If you’re in the market for a 40 ft motorhome, it’s important to choose wisely. These beauties don’t come cheap, but they do offer some of the best floor plans on the market.
40 feet is about the maximum length that any RV can reach. Some may go a bit higher to end up in the 45-foot range, but you’ll be close to the top end of the spectrum either way. The size of this Class A motorhome is perfect for those who want to live in their motorhome full-time. It can also accommodate other passengers, so this floor plan also works well for families that want to travel in style. Lots of elements of this motorhome are customizable, but we’ll mainly be discussing the details of the base floor plan.
Master bedroom
The setup of the master bedroom is one major reason why this 40 ft motorhome stood out from the others. If you plan to live out of an RV year-round, you’ll want a bedroom that is comfortable, spacious, and feels like home.
The master bedroom is located at the rear of this design. Two opposing slideouts are installed on either end of the bedroom. One contains part of the queen-sized bed, while the other holds a TV, dresser, and some overhead cabinets. Nightstands sit against both sides of the bed, and some storage cabinets extend overhead as well.
A master bathroom is attached to this room. The bathroom sits at the very end of this motorhome and spans across its entire width. The second bathroom sits just outside of the master bedroom. It’s much smaller and doesn’t include a shower. There’s just enough room for a toilet, sink, small vanity, and a storage cabinet. This one is more utilitarian, but it’s still useful to have another bathroom available!
Living room
The living room and kitchen occupy the same space in this 40 ft motorhome, but it’s worth discussing them separately because there are so many elements to each part. Once again, this section of the motorhome has opposing slide-outs to provide more open space in the center.
In one slide-out, we have a booth-style dinette and an Ultra Leather Air Coil sofa bed. This is perfect if you need to host larger groups but don’t want to commit to a permanent bed. It’s a comfortable sofa during the day and a 1-2 person bed at night!
Across from these furniture items is a second Ultraleather sofa bed. This one is a bit smaller and would probably work best with a single occupant. Side tables are located next to each sofa bed, so everyone has a place to store their phone, water bottle, and other small necessities.
A TV is mounted on the wall that separates the master bedroom from the rest of the space. This makes it visible to anyone in the living room or kitchen. A second TV is also located above the windshield in the driver’s cab. This can be a helpful display while driving as well as another great option for an entertainment center.
Kitchen
Now let’s talk about the kitchen! If you love to cook, the kitchen of the Phaeton 40 QBH could be a great mobile setup for you. It has all the appliances and amenities you need to cook delicious meals.
A residential refrigerator/freezer and a slide-out pantry sit in the same slideout as the dinette. This design is useful because it keeps the bulky items out of the way of the main workspace. However, they’re all still within easy reach.
The primary workspace sits across from the refrigerator. It includes a long and wide L-shaped counter that offers plenty of space for food prep and appliance storage. The cooking appliances include a 2-basin sink, microwave, stovetop, extendable counter section, and optional dishwasher.
Cabinets are also available above and below, so you can store all the utensils, ingredients, and dishware that you need. The sink and stove come with custom covers, so they can easily be converted into flat surfaces. Extra outlets are also built into the kitchen so you can power anything you want.
Upgrades/Options
The standard floor plan of the Phaeton 40 QBH is perfect for most people, but there are always chances to upgrade or replace certain items. Almost every furniture item in the living room can be swapped for something else.
For instance, the booth-style dinette and sofa bed can be replaced with your choice of:
- A U-shaped dinette
- A dinette with a computer workstation
- A recliner with an additional TV and a fireplace
- A smaller Ultraleather Air Coil sofa bed with a lift TV
If customers choose, an additional drop-down bunk bed can also be added above the driver’s cab. This is an easy way to add extra sleeping space, plus it doesn’t cut into the living room.
Decoration
Finally, let’s talk about the cosmetic details! While the decoration might not be the most important part, it’s good to know that the design of this motorhome matches its quality.
There are seven exterior paint jobs that customers can choose between. These generally have base colors of grey or beige, with accents of black, red, or blue.
On the interior, customers can choose one of the three décor themes. These include Artist Taupe III, Coastal Sand II, and Trend Beige III. These themes determine the color and pattern of the backsplash, countertops, pillows, and window accents. All these designs are classy and work well together.

We have a 2007 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40′ QDP. It has really been great. I don’t feel like the new models give the service that the older units do. From reading and talking to owners is how I have come to this decision. I might ad……I feel like this true with most of the top name coaches. Now START FIRING BACK
Tiffin is “best” based on what data?? Personal opinion? Tangible product inspection? Random sample survey? Capacities, i.e., fuel, water, gray / black tanks, etc. How many owners were interviewed? I for one spent an enormous amount of time doing the aforementioned examination / criteria. Based upon my research, Newmar Dutch Star is the hands down winner.
Absolutely. We have a 2006 Newmar 3912 have owned it 14 years driven 125,000 miles. It’s like driving the best car you ever owned. Newmar support is perfect.

It looks nice and everything but why do these people keep putting the TV at the side of the chairs and couches where you can get a stiff neck watching?
I always figured that was the only place left after they put the rest of the stuff in their. I guess they put it in last.
My advise based on over 10 years RVing and over 5 years experience with a 40 foot diesel pusher: Get one with a minimum 400 HP and 1200 ft-lbs of torque, a tag axel and 315/22.5 tires. Makes a world of difference on the road, especially when towing a toad and going across our many States. Cross winds, taking on mountain passes/grades and, passing 18 wheelers become a non issue. Being comfortable on the road is equal, if not more, important that when you are already parked and set up. Do your own research and consider all options.
Sorry, but Newmar is the winner here. With a super slide the length of the coach makes for a more open feel to the coach. Let’s not forget the quality standards of Newmar. Lots of trim line options starting with the Kountry Star and moving up
2008 (pre-def) Tiffan Bus. Beat the Phaeton in a hundred ways including that it is pre fancy electronic (prone for problems) gizmos.
Newmar Mountain Aire 41′ on a K3 Spartan chassis smokes them all.

Cosmetics aside, performance is most important! Engine, suspension and brake’s paramount. Who rates tops ? Who make a 40 ft three axle with side radiator and 450 min. Cummins and independent front suspension?
If you looked into price, value, and features, you would look at the Entegra Aspire 40P which beats the phaeton in all categories.
Entegra’s stay like new forever… since they almost never leave the shop.
