3 Bedroom Motorhomes: The Best Floor Plans In 2022

There are tons of massive trailers and motorhomes on the market, but it can be tough to find one with multiple bedrooms. 1 bedroom is standard, and some larger family models may have a second bedroom as well. However, a 3 bedroom motorhome is a rare beast and can be hard to find.

Because 3 bedrooms occupy a lot of space in a floor plan, the motorhomes that host multiple rooms need to be quite large. After all, they still need to fit a kitchen, a bathroom or two, and a place for the drivers to sit. Because of these space needs, almost every 3 bedroom motorhome will be a Class A (the largest and most expensive type of motorhome).

While these RVs don’t come cheap, they can be the perfect solution for a family that wants to travel and maybe even live on the road. There are a few good options to explore; we’ll cover our pick for the best 3 bedroom motorhome as well as a few runner-ups.

Best 3 Bedroom Motorhome: Berkshire XLT 45CA

If you’re looking for a quality motorhome, it’s a good idea to explore the Forest River catalog. They have a massive selection of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. The Berkshire XLT 45CA is one of the largest motorhomes on the market, coming in at 44 feet, 11 inches long. It’s a massive RV that isn’t for the faint of heart!

All of the motorhomes on this list will be large, but this one is the biggest. Because of its size, it has the capacity to fit lots of storage space, utilities, and of course, 3 bedrooms!

The first bedroom is a master bedroom that occupies the rear of the unit. A king bed sits partially within a slideout, and there is also room for a dresser, wardrobe, safe, TV, and lots of overhead storage space. This bedroom connects to the rear bathroom, which is quite large and spans the entire width of the motorhome.

The bathroom has a large L-shaped vanity, complete with 2 sinks. It also has a shower, toilet, linen closet, storage cabinets, and an optional washer-dryer setup. It’s quite roomy as far as RV bathrooms go, and the occupants of the master bedroom can enjoy privacy because there is a separate bathroom for the rest of the occupants to use.

The second bedroom sits outside the master bedroom. It’s simple but effective! This bedroom contains a set of twin bunk beds, each of which has its own TV. The occupants of these beds will never have to fight about what to watch! Just across from this bedroom is the second bathroom. This one is much smaller, but it still has a shower, sink, and toilet.

The third and final bedroom is located over the driver’s cab. This one contains a single lifted bunk bed, overhead storage cabinets, and yet another TV. Anyone who sleeps here can enjoy a view of the whole RV as well as a bit of privacy. The loft-like bedroom is a fun solution that adds extra sleeping space.

If even more sleeping space is needed, there is also a hide-a-bed sofa in the main living space. This isn’t in a separate bedroom, but it can act as a comfortable bed if needed. The rest of the motorhome is comfortable and luxurious as well.

There are 3 slideouts in total, a full kitchen (with a residential refrigerator), a booth-style dinette, and plenty of open space in the middle of the floor plan.

If you’re in the market for a 3 bedroom motorhome that blends comfort, convenience, and luxury, the Berkshire XLT 45CA could be the perfect option for you. If you’d like to view more floor plan details, gallery photos, and vehicle specifications, visit the product page here.

Runner-up: Thor Challenger 37DS

If you enjoy the layout of the Berkshire but are looking for something a bit smaller, you’d probably enjoy the Thor Challenger 37DS. The design and layout of the bedrooms are almost identical, but the amenities and living room/kitchen are a bit different. It’s also a few feet shorter, measuring in at 39 feet, 1 inch.

Once again, there is a master bedroom located at the rear of the unit. The king bed sits partially inside a slideout, which helps expand the amount of floor space in the bedroom. There is also a TV, closet, and washer/dryer prep station located in this room. Against the rear wall is the master bathroom. This is quite a bit smaller than the Berkshire model, but it still provides everything you need with a shower, toilet, sink, and storage cabinets.

A pair of twin bunk beds sit in a nook just outside the master bedroom. A second bathroom is just across from these bunks and contains a bathtub/shower, sink, toilet, and more storage cabinets. The final bedroom sits above the driver’s cab and holds a fairly large mattress. Two people could sleep up here if necessary, so there’s a good amount of space.

The combined living room/kitchen includes things like a booth-style dinette, residential refrigerator, 68-inch sofa, and an expanding counter to provide ample workspace. The Thor Challenger 37Ds is a 3 bedroom motorhome that is a bit smaller, but it will still be comfortable for everyone. For more details, visit the product page here.

Runner-up: Sportscoach RD 402TS

Finally, we have the Sportscoach RD 402TS from Coachmen RV. Once again, the layout is similar to the previous models. After all, there are only so many ways you can fit 3 bedrooms into a motorhome! This is a great vehicle to consider; it measures in at 41 feet, 1 inch long. This puts the Sportscoach RD right in the middle of the pack in terms of length.

The master bedroom connects to a spacious bathroom at the rear of the motorhome. This bathroom includes a shower, vanity, sink, toilet, linen closet, and a washer/dryer prep station. The bedroom has a king bed, dresser, 2 wardrobes, and a TV.

A pair of bunk beds are outside the master bedroom. Buyers can also choose to replace these bunks with a large wardrobe instead. Each bunk has a separate window and access to wall outlets. The second bathroom of the motorhome sits across the hall. It’s a full bath that includes a sink, toilet, shower, and some storage cabinets.

A dropdown overhead bunk functions as the final bedroom. Once again, this one sits above the driver’s cab. There is overhead storage here as well, so the occupant has a place to keep their belongings.

This 3 bedroom motorhome also includes a farm sink, pantry, 68-inch sofa, and a dinette with a large table. It’s a very comfortable living space for a large group! For more information, visit the product page here.

  1. Oh my gosh. With a 45′ Class A you would think that Berkshire would have a better floor plan. The refrigerator door opens up into the face of the poor person sitting in the Captain’s chair. It doesn’t even look like there is room for their legs. Tell me it just looks this way in the floor plan and in the video.

The Thor has zero counter space around the sink, even with the lift up addition. There is no room around the stove either. We travel with 9 people and the kitchen needs counter space for plates and pots. I keep thinking I may move up to a bigger Class A but it looks like I’m staying with my Tiffin.

  2. Our family of 6 (3 daughters and a son) had the same problem. Luckily we already owned a 1 ton truck so we bought a dutchman voltage toy hauler. Rear bedroom with 2 queen bunks for the girls with a powder bath for the kids and a queen loft for our son. Of course there is a private master suite in the front with a full bath. My wife and I were both surprised with the overall build quality and trim. For someone who’s not intimidated by a trailer these are great, spacious options with a lot of dual purpose areas when we don’t have the children with us on an excursion.
