Could These Be the Best Small Class C RVs?

Driving a small class C RV is a great way to camp and travel without needing to worry about towing a ton of weight. Class C RVs are quite popular due to the nature of their design. They manage to blend an easily driven vehicle with a quality living space.

A Class C RV can be up to 40 feet long, but smaller ones tend to measure between 23-26 feet long. This length makes them manageable on the road, but still provides enough space to craft an adaptable floor plan. It can be hard to choose an all-around “best” RV because every buyer has different desires and specifications. However, in terms of design, space utilization, and overall quality, it’s hard to beat the Tiffin Wayfarer. We’ll explore this motorhome’s features down below, as well as a few honorable mentions.

Best Small Class C RV: Tiffin Wayfarer

When it comes to motorhomes, Tiffin is one of the top companies that springs to mind. They specialize in creating luxurious RVs that have become famous in the automotive industry. Each of their products is high-quality and they have frequently ranked well on the dealer satisfaction index (DSI). The founder, Bob Tiffin, was even given the National RV Dealers Association’s (RVDA) Titan Award, which is one of the highest honors the industry can provide!

They’ve proven time and time again that Tiffin motorhomes are worthy of praise. And a model that perfectly captures their innovation, dedication, and skill is the Tiffin Wayfarer. The Wayfarer is constructed over the chassis of a Mercedes-Benz®, which is popular for its durability and high-performance handling. The design includes two slide outs, which increases the square footage and creates a more spacious interior. The Wayfarer is an RV that’s equipped with everything you need for a fun vacation, camping trip, or cross-country adventure!

Interior Design

As is the case with all Class C RVs, the front of this vehicle is occupied with a pair of driver seats. The cab is a comfortable space that’s outfitted with all the comforts you’ll need. This includes a set of built-in cup holders, a powerful heating/ air conditioning system, a touchscreen GPS, and a variety of different outlets.

A loft sits above the driver’s cab and it can serve as an extra sleeping area, or an entertainment center. Depending on the size of group you’re traveling with, one might work better than the other. A large slide out sits along the right wall and you can pick between 3 options of what goes into it. There’s a booth-style dinette, a set of reclining theater seats, or a tri-fold sofa.

This slide out faces the kitchen area, which is outfitted with a microwave, refrigerator, sink, stove, and oven. A TV sits on the wall as well, so you can enjoy some entertainment while you’re cooking or relaxing. Towards the back of the motorhome is a bathroom. This is only a half bath and it contains a toilet, sink, and set of cabinets. Across the hallway is a separate shower room. This design can be handy if someone wants to shower, but still keep the bathroom available.

The back half of this small class C RV is occupied with a spacious bedroom. The queen-sized bed sits halfway inside a slide out, which extends to create more space in the room. A set of nightstands, a large wardrobe, and drawers under the bed increase the storage capacity of this motorhome.

Honorable Mentions

While the Tiffin Wayfarer is certainly a great overall choice, there are lots of other small class C RVs that deserve a shoutout as well. This list isn’t exhaustive by any means because many RV manufacturers make high-quality class C models. The motorhomes below are just a good place to get started!

Gulf Stream Conquest 6237

This Conquest Class C RV from Gulfstream doesn’t have any slide outs, but it still manages to provide a complete living space! An overhead bunk sits above the driver’s cab and two of the walls are lined with storage space. The center of this vehicle is occupied by a dining room/ kitchen.

A horseshoe-shaped dinette provides a place to sit, eat, and relax. It sits across from the kitchen, which is compact but contains all the appliances you need for a trip on the road. There’s even a folding section at the end of the counter that can be used to expand your workspace.

The read of the unit is occupied by a bedroom and bathroom. Considering the compact floor plan, the bathroom is a decent size! The bedroom contains a 60″ x 74″ bed, which is easily large enough for two people. Overhead storage space lines the bedroom and there’s a large wardrobe just around the corner.

Thor Motor Coach Chateau

Thor Motor Coach is a popular RV manufacturer and they offer a variety of different motorhomes. Some of their most highly rated Class C models come from the Chateau line of products. This THOR Class C offers a large bunk over the driver’s cab, complete with a swiveling TV. A single large slide out dominates the righthand wall and it spans most of the vehicle’s length.

A booth-style dinette sits across from the unit’s kitchen. Like the previous model, the counter space of this cooking area can be expanded with help from a small folding section. Everyone could use a bit more space for food prep after all! A pair of large closets and a refrigerator bridge the gap between the living area and the rear bedroom.

A queen bed sits partway in the slide out, and buyers have the option of installing a second TV across from the bed. A compact bathroom fills the last corner of this RV. It contains all the necessities, and a few extra perks! The vanity/sink is larger than many other models and there’s a small overhead cabinet as well.

Winnebago Vita 24P – Great Small Class C RV

No RV ranking would be complete without a Winnebago product! This is one of the oldest motorhome manufacturers and they continue to innovate and reinvent their products to stay in the game. The Vita series are all high-quality and the Winnebago Vita 24P is a great small class C RV.

Like the other models, this floor plan includes an extra sleeping area above the driving cab, which is great for travelers who want more sleeping space. A single long slide out span most of the length and it provides a spacious interior. A booth-style dinette, queen-sized bed, refrigerator, and storage cabinets occupy this slide out.

The dinette faces directly across from the kitchen, which is larger than many similarly-sized motorhomes. A TV is also mounted on the kitchen wall. A sliding door reveals a bathroom in the corner, which is equipped with a sink, toilet, shower, and overhead cabinets. The queen-sized bed sits right next to the bathroom, and a small nightstand sits next to each side of the bed.

I’m confident that any of the motorhomes listed above will be comfortable and reliable options that anyone can enjoy!

  1. The depth of this report is truly questionable. The Tiffin is “bloated” and barely has an OCCC rating of 1000 pound…..some variants lower than 700 pounds. How do you put 2 adults, a full tank of water, a full tank of LP, possibly the pet and normal camping “stuff” in a coach with less than 1000 lbs OCCC? I agree with another poster about the LTV products. Well built, available OCCC to usable levels, well over 1200 lbs and up to 1800, attention to details….. Also the venerable Winnebago View lineup is missing, another great product for the sort of mission these units are build for. Has the writer even been in any of the wide range of Sprinter and Transit based Class Cs or are these articles all researched by the internet?….not bashing, just pointing out the “best of” articles could use more practical, first hand experience facts…

  2. I find it amazing that you did not even mention the Wonder or Unity small Class C motorhomes manufactured by Triple E Leisure Travel Vans. They are indeed the highest quality small class C motorhomes built.

  3. Once again the reviewer goes for the large builders as opposed to the best builders, where is LEISURE TRAVEL VANS on the list arguably the most creative, versatile and best built small Class C or B+ motor homes.
