Thor Industries has announced plans to include Flat High Performance Starlink internet systems on select models to keep RVers connected while on the road. The company is working with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to get Starlink technology into some motorized models in its Jayco, Airstream, Entegra Coach, and Tiffin brands.
The move to include Starlink internet comes in response to demands from RV consumers for better connectivity. According to Thor Industries, 74% of consumers indicated that “integrated high-speed internet is very important for future RV purchases.”
“We’re excited to work with Thor, Airstream, Entegra Coach, Jayco, and Tiffin to bring Starlink to RV owners around the world,” said SpaceX Vice President of Business Operations Chad Gibbs. “By providing game-changing connectivity in remote locations whether parked or in motion, Starlink is expanding the boundaries of where RVers can explore while still staying connected to friends and family.Thor Industries News
Starlink is now the provider of choice for many RVers who work while on the road. Many RVers prefer Starlink because it provides high-speed, low-latency connectivity, resulting in amazingly fast upload and download speeds.
Starlink satellites orbit the earth at just 550 km (340 miles). This is over 65 times closer to Earth than any other satellite system, which results in phenomenal internet speeds. The new Flat High Performance system allows RVers to connect to the internet anywhere, even when the RV is in motion.
“This agreement is a big step toward providing constant internet connection for RVers everywhere,” said Thor Industries President and CEO Bob Martin. “Whether for work, staying in touch with family and friends, or streaming entertainment, a reliable internet connection is a must-have for today’s RVer. Starlink will help THOR elevate our RV owners’ experiences and create yet another important point of differentiation for the THOR family of companies.”Thor Industries News
In recent years, many jobs have been moved out of the office, and employees can do work remotely as long as they can connect to the internet. Many RVers usually rely on dishy-style systems, mobile Wi-Fi, and/or cellular data systems for internet connectivity. While these systems work most of the time, internet connections can sometimes be spotty or even non-existent.
The new mobile flat system promises to change that with even better connectivity from more places. Having it preinstalled on the roof of your RV makes the setup and takedown of the dishy system a thing of the past.
