Jayco Octane Super Lite 312 Toy Hauler

If searching for a toy hauler, this model is hands down a great floor plan. The 37.11’ length includes a 12.6’ garage for hauling toys or converts to a versatile space for sleeping, dining or entertainment room for family and friends.

An additional screened door pulls down at the back of the garage making a screened room which helps keep those bugs at bay as dusk approaches.  The windows in the garage come with blackout night shades as well.

The dry weight of 8,100 lbs. leaves room for an additional 3,660 lbs. of cargo capacity, and the 102” wide-bodied trailer gives you additional interior head room.

The roomy bathroom, with its angled corner shower and linen closet, is situated between the end of the living area and the garage, giving you a mid-bath for easy access.

The murphy bed offers wardrobe storage and two large windows on each side giving you plenty of light and that open-air feeling.  The interior dinette can convert to a 1-person bed.

The kitchen is equipped with a 2-burner cooktop, convection microwave, 2-bowl sink and an 8 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer.  Cabinet space seems adequate.

Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser 19MBS

As the name suggests, this no slides, no bunks travel trailer carries a vintage vibe of the 1950’s with the benefit of modern amenities.  The easy to pull length of 23.1’ gives you a dry weight of 3,192 lbs. and a whopping interior height of 6’11”.

The tri-fold murphy bed/sofa includes additional under bed and wardrobe storage.  The dinette will make into a bed for one and houses a large picture window to its side.

The kitchen packs in a 3-burner cooktop w/aluminum cover, a double sink w/cover, a 2-door refrigerator/freezer w/automatic gas/electric switchover, an oven and microwave.  To the side of the cooktop is a counter and additional drawer space.

The bathroom may look vintage, but the present-day corner angled shower w/glass door and large wardrobe closet keep it modern.  There’s even a window adding natural light.

Note, the 13.5 BTU AC is non-ducted, and temperature is controlled on the interior ceiling unit.  The furnace heater is regulated by a thermostat on the wall.

The exterior includes front pass-through storage, power awning, USB ports, outside spray port, power tongue jack, full fiberglass laminated shell and roof and very cool 14” white wall radial tires with moon hubcaps for that vintage/retro appeal.

This Cruiser has several options in colors or woodgrain effect to make the vintage look your very own.

Grand Design Imagine XLS 19RLE

If you’ve searched reviews for quality and reliability in an RV, Grand Design will most likely come shining through.  This model is made for the lightweight but discerning camper in mind.  You can fit a lot into its 23.6’ frame with only a dry weight of 4,210 lbs.  While this camper has no slides or bunks, you can still enjoy luxury while camping.

Some outstanding exterior features are the 16’ power awning, R-40 roof and front cap insulation, gel coated fiberglass exterior, power tongue jack, front pass-through storage, battery kill switch, heated and enclosed underbelly plus heated and enclosed dump valves.

Taking it inside, you’ll find a U-shaped dinette at the back of the camper with a large picture window above. Forward to your left will be the bath in Grand Design style with a large shower, countertop space and linen storage.

The kitchen is equipped with a 2-door stainless refrigerator, microwave, recessed cooktop w/glass cover, oven and a large 1-bowl sink.  Plenty of cabinet space abounds.

The sofa to murphy bed is found at the front of the camper with two large drawers underneath for storage.  A TV hangs on a swing-out arm, hanging mirrored wardrobe closets and drawers on each side complete the bedroom setup.

This and more awaits you when you take a look at the Imagine XLS 19RLE.

Keystone Passport Express 239ML

This Keystone packs a lot into a compact design at a travel friendly length of 25.5’ and dry weight of 4,140 lbs.  While the camper has no slide, it easily fits in bunk beds, each with a window and small storage underneath.

The water tanks are amazingly large at 38 gallons for the gray and black tanks, while the fresh water tank provides 43 gallons.  The automatic ignition switch allows 18 gallons of hot water per hour from the electric/gas water heater.

The frame is high quality double side welded aluminum.  The wide stance axel system ensures easy towing with no wiggle or porpoise effect on the road.  The large pass-through storage is assurance that you can bring what you need to enjoy your camping experience.

You’ll be comfortable under the 15’ easy tilt power awning while you cook up some supper at the handy outside kitchen, complete with a plastic sink, hot/cold running water, cooktop, refrigerator, wing out counter and storage shelf.  Also, you can’t go wrong playing some tunes on the Bluetooth stereo system.

The front sofa easily converts to a murphy bed which allows for a large living area without compromising a comfortable slumber.  A long hanging closet on each side, shelfing above plus under bed storage is all provided.  The bedroom also has a full-length curtain for privacy.  The dinette, with free-standing table, can convert to a bed.

Fitting a kitchen into a small space can be a challenge, however, the 239ML has done it.  You’ll find a 2-bowl sink w/cover, 3-burner cooktop, oven, microwave, 2-door refrigerator/freezer, good counter space, cabinets galore, plus a large pantry.  The kitchen window above the sink provides views to the great outdoors.

The bathroom contains a tub/shower combo, power vent fan, skylight, foot flush toilet and sink with medicine cabinet.

When thinking about family space, the Keystone 239ML can be a great decision. You’ll even be able to hose off those youngsters or family dog using the outside shower before relaxing at day’s end in this family-friendly camper.

Coachman Apex 238MB

This is Coachman’s first murphy bed model, and it’s a good one!  It’s built for high mileage and frequent use.  Coachman makes a great product and its Azdel composite sidewalls are signature to its name.

Azdel panels are constructed using a blend of polypropylene and fiberglass, creating a strong, water resistant, lightweight material.  With a dry weight of 4,472 lbs., a length of 25.6’ and 1 slide, the Azdel does a great job at keeping this product truly lightweight.

Green Certified with a fully enclosed and heated underbelly and holding tanks, the 238MB has an aluminum welded frame, block foam structural insulation and the R-14 rubber roof is aluminum reinforced and laminated.  This all adds up to durability.

The exterior provides you with a hot and cold outdoor shower, a 15’ power awning, pass-through storage, tank capacity of a 50-gallon fresh water and 35 gallons each gray and black water.

The kitchen countertops are fully sealed and what counter space the Apex provides!  You’ll find a peninsular counter for prep space with additional counter space next to the 3-burner cooktop and oven.  The kitchen hosts a stainless package with microwave, 2-door refrigerator/freezer and double bowl sink w/cover.

Coachman understands storage and this kitchen provides plenty of cabinets and an amazingly large pantry.  If you can’t possibly store that much food, be sure to use it for additional clothing, linens or kitchen appliances.  The entertainment center has even more storage for use as you see fit, along with USB outlets.

The bathroom finds an impressive neo-angle shower with skylight and power vent.  This model has a 13.5 BTU central AC.  The heat ducts are run through cabinets and not in the flooring where dust and dirt normally collect.  Smart stuff!

The 4-seater dinette is located in a small slide and will provide additional sleeping space if needed.  It has easy access storage doors below the bench seats, along with a fully sealed tabletop.

To finish your tour, we end at the murphy bed – what this article’s all about.  Apex makes a tall person friendly bed measuring 6.6’ long.  You can enjoy relaxing on the sofa by day, knowing you’ll be comfortable at night.  Each side has a hanging closet, an overhead cabinet plus a really cool cut-out cabinet for extra storage when converted to a bed.  Sweet dreams!

Lance 2185

The Lance 2185 is literally gorgeous!  It’s a Lance, of course, and quality, design and attention to detail are what Lance is all about.  At a dry weight of 4,565 lbs., a length of 25.8’, a super slide and three, yes as in triple, bunks, you’ll be anxious to get on the road with your crew.

The 3 rear bunks, adult and child friendly, can also be reconfigured as a storage area for bikes or toys while you’re traveling.  An exterior access door is located at the back of the RV for ease in loading and unloading.

This Lance has a convertible sofa/murphy bed or can be optionally ordered with a walk-around queen bed.  Night stands and storage are found on each side.  A beautiful front window (with day/night shades) highlights the front of this trailer, as well as windows on each side.  This allows more views of the great outdoors and isn’t that what camping’s all about?

The living area has a skylight with pull shade.  The U-shaped dinette is beautifully designed to fit in the “windows all around” slide and has pull-out storage drawers under the bench seats.

The bathroom design is unique and ingenious.  The roomy shower and porcelain toilet are located behind a full door, while the sink sits outside on the opposing wall.  This allows access for everyone in the RV to freshen up.  The sink is complete with under counter storage, a medicine cabinet and a pop-up counter extension giving you room for toiletries. The unique design continues with the bathroom door totally opening up to allow closure of the bunk area for privacy.

The kitchen touts a 3-burner glass covered range with oven, 2-way 6 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer, microwave, large sink and counter extension.  The entertainment center has additional versatile storage space.

You’ll notice 2 entry doors on this camper. The second door is convenient to the bunks making it an easy entry point.  The Lance offers a keyed alike system making it a breeze at keeping it simple for RV owners and their guests.

The fresh, gray and black tanks are huge for this lightweight camper at 45 gallons each.  RVers will enjoy the 18’ power awning, all weather package, crowned walk-on roof with ladder, pull out front storage tray, power tongue jack, electric/gas water heater, 13.5 BTU or optional 15.0 BTU AC, and USA Goodyear radial tires.  A 4’ outdoor table is an added plus with integrated storage.

Impressed yet?  There’s a lot to talk about when it comes to the Lance 2185.  Be sure this one goes on the wish list.

Rockwood 2504S Mini Lite

Rockwood does everything it can to ensure your RV stands the test of time.  Owned by Forest River, Rockwood has been a solid, reliable and trusted name for many years.  The 2504S Mini Lite is a well-built murphy bed model with a dry weight of 5,124 lbs. and a length of 25.9’.

The 2504S exterior displays an 18’ awning, enclosed underbelly, battery disconnect switch, wifi booster, outside speakers, antifreeze stations, and fully aluminum frame.

There are numerous options offered including a rear ladder, power awning w/adjustable rain dump, power tongue jack, bike rack and electronically controlled heated holding tanks.

Speaking of tanks, there’s a 43-gallon fresh water tank and 30-gallon each gray and black tanks.  Aside from the pass-through storage at the front of the trailer, additional storage under the dinette and bunks exists which is easily accessible from exterior compartments.

The murphy bed/sofa, when fully opened, gives way to a large front window over the bed. This seems to be the largest window in the RV which sadly cannot be enjoyed when the sofa is in use.  Each side of the bed has a small built-in closet and night stand.  An extra wardrobe can be found on the side wall at the foot of the bed.

Good cabinet storage along with a pantry, a 2-door gas/electric refrigerator/freezer, 3-burner cooktop w/glass cover, oven, microwave, 2-bowl sink w/cover, counter flip up extension and solid kitchen countertops complete the kitchen.

The U-shaped dinette is tucked nicely into a deep slide.  The large free-standing table is convenient for moving outside when needed.

Two bunk beds are tucked in the back, right corner behind the TV and Bluetooth stereo entertainment center.  The entertainment center, while small, accomplishes its job just fine.

The bathroom is a tub/shower combo with a pull curtain.  The sink and counter are small, but the bath window is a definite plus.

This travel trailer, while well-made and thought through, falls short on natural lighting.  The windows are the pop-out style and tend to be small.

Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106DS

This Micro Minnie lives up to its name at 21.11’ and a dry weight of 3,705.  Being a Winnebago means the sidewalls of this camper are made exactly the same as the larger, more expensive Winnebago models with a true gel coat exterior to last the life of the RV.

Kitchen, while attractive, has almost zero countertop space but Winnebago gives you a double sink w/cover, 3-burner cooktop w/cover and pop up counter extension to get the job done.  The kitchen also provides an oven, 2-door automatic switchover gas/electric refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dual USB ports and several cabinets.

The bathroom is nicely designed to include a shower with built-in shower curtain.  The good-sized hanging wardrobe and additional cabinet space in the bathroom are a great feature.

The murphy bed is easy as can be to flip up or down when needed. You have extra cabinet space, two long night stands and windows on each side.  In the slide, a long sofa plays double duty for additional seating or as a dinette with a long free-standing table that can store behind the sofa when not in use.  The large window in the slide allows for plenty of natural light.

A multi-media Bluetooth stereo with indoor/outdoor speakers and 32” LED TV make up the entertainment center.  The storage cabinet can be used as a pantry if needed.

Taking it outside, you’ll find a 13’ power awning, good pass-through storage, battery disconnect switch, hot and cold water outside shower, exterior TV hookup, rear mounted ladder and heated and enclosed tanks.

Winnebago provides a 6-sided aluminum super structure and an upgraded suspension system.  The Micro Minnie utilizes a torsion axel for better towing down the road.  The tires are nitrogen filled with alloy wheels.

Remember, not only does the name Winnebago bring to mind quality and comfort, it also offers you some really cool, fun colors when choosing your travel trailer.

Conclusion

I hope you’ll now have some new trailers to add to your wish list.  Murphy beds offer a lot of versatility, extra living space and are downright attractive.  One of them is sure to win you over.

  1. Forest River Cruise Lite FSX 179DBK , that is what wife and I are looking at , murphy bed with coach under, 2 double bunk beds for grandkids or friends, 22.6 ft. long , 3000 lbs . This is what I have come up with for pulling to close camp pots and heading west with my wife.

  2. I don’t see any of these as being lightweight nor small. We’d like a 2000# or less, 16 foot with a murphy bed and bathroom…a bar counter with two stools is enough for us. We saw one at an RV show some 10 years ago…but everything has gotten so big and heavy…what about us boomers who want economy and tiny spaces…but comfort and convenience. Outside shower, for example.

    • Joy, If you copy/paste the name of the trailer you can search for the trailers. We have an older model Rockwood, with a slide and murphy bed. The newer model looks more “user friendly” because of how the kitchen sink is situated. In our model, the lighting is poor in the bathroom. The bathroom is HUGE and really nice! The heater doesn’t seem to be adequate. I hope they’ve put a better one in! I hate the overhead lighting in the rest of the home! But that’s just me! We’ve had trouble with mice getting in. If we were to buy a new one, we’d probably still get a Rockwood, BUT I’d make sure all the seals on the slides were tight, when they are out and in, and all the entry possibilities were securely caulked! I’d be prepared to buy battery operated lighting! In our model, I don’t feel there is enough storage. Again, that’s just me!
