Campground Reviews Working To Collect Data For RVers During Crisis

Published on April 1st, 2020 by Patrick Buchanan

Nearly two decades old, RV LIFE Campgrounds is the gold standard when it comes to providing reliable campground information. RV LIFE Campgrounds, is now providing up-to-date information about campground closures during the COVID-19 crisis to the RVing community.

Current campground status information is invaluable in order to provide an up-to-date list for full-time RVers and those displaced or in quarantine in their RV, many of whom are desperate to find a temporary location they can call home during the coronavirus crisis. With most national, state, county, and local parks starting to close, private campgrounds may be the last hope for RVers with nowhere else to go.

“Understanding if a campground is open and accepting new customers is critical for many RVers who found themselves displaced as municipalities declared shelter-in-place orders,” said Andy Robinowitz, CEO of RV LIFE (the company who runs RV LIFE Campgrounds).

He continued, “A few websites including RV LIFE started by soliciting feedback from RVers and compiling lists of closed campgrounds. That’s great & useful but we wanted to take a pragmatic approach so that we could continually monitor and update the status of campgrounds at scale on an ongoing basis.

Over the last week we devised a plan to update the status of thousands of campgrounds on an ongoing basis. It was no small undertaking for a small company like ours. In just a few days we have updated the status of 3,673 campgrounds, of which 879 confirmed they are open and accepting new customers. The rest are temporarily closed.

Next week we plan to use as many resources as necessary to to reach out to tens of thousands of campgrounds. We will then repeat our efforts over-and-over until the crisis subsides. We will have updated and accurate information for our readers to help them navigate during these unique times.”

When you visit CampgroundReviews.com, it’s very easy to exclude campgrounds which are closed. Simply check the box above the map on the State, City or Search page and closed campgrounds will be removed (see image below). You can then continue to use the site as you normally would to find a campground that is open.

With remote employees in four time zones across the U.S, the RV LIFE team is in the process of contacting over 20,000 campgrounds listed on its website. Data from RV LIFE Campgrounds is consumed by millions of visitors per year and powers other popular tools including RV LIFE Trip Wizard, and the RV LIFE GPS & Campgrounds mobile app

RVers looking for available campgrounds should visit RV LIFE Campgrounds frequently, as information will be updated daily.
