Top 10 Best RV Resorts For The Class A Lifestyle

So many great RV resorts, so little time. It’s a daunting task trying to hit all the upscale RV resorts across the US.  We know…we’ve been trying for the last 15 years!

We’ve criss-crossed the country and stayed at almost all of them.  Where do you start?  How long do you stay?  What kind of amenities should we expect

Can we list all of them in the Top 10?  Nope.  Some will probably deserve your attention and your visit, but we’ve tried to narrow down this list based on several factors and amenities.  Many of them are subjective and open to debate.  We get it.  A few great resorts will have them all, but most resorts have 90%+ of these upscale lifestyle features.

First, let’s determine what factors we considered in our list:  Pools/spas, paved roads, ease of access, free from overhanging trees and other obstacles, tennis courts, restaurants or pubs, golf courses on-site or very nearby, dog parks, spacious sites, Wi-Fi access, excellent landscaping and/or flowers, and pickleball, of course! All of these resorts were also rated extremely high on CampgroundReviews.com.

Note that these RV resorts are all motor coach resorts. That means Class A luxury motorhomes only, no 5th wheels or travel trailers. In no particular order, here are our 10 best RV resorts.

Best RV resorts in California

1. MotorCoach Country Club, Indio, CA

This resort certainly vies for the top of anyone’s list. With a great location in the Palm Springs area, the City of Indio’s motto is “The Place To Be.”

Conveniently located near shopping, excellent restaurants, and tons of things to do and see nearby, MotorCoach Country Club is definitely the place to be.  Some RV sites have individual pools and extravagant build-outs, and a very good restaurant makes this a must-see and visit.

Cons:  No pickleball courts

2. Desert Shores Motorcoach Resort, Indio, CA

Also located in Indio, Desert Shores’ sites are larger and have 1200 square ft. villas with a great room, kitchen, luxurious master suite w/bathroom, and a garage.

Many sites have individual pools/spas, lush landscaping and great views.  A large clubhouse, dog park, trailer storage, and visiting buddy sites round out the great amenities. Desert Shores has a very open feel, and just added pickleball to their amenity mix.

3. Hearthside Grove Motorcoach Resort, Petosky, MI

Hearthside Grove is a very beautiful northern resort surrounded by lush landscaping and lots of water features. Located in upstate Michigan, you’ll find bike trails, boating, fishing, and cute little towns all around.

Some of the RV sites are huge, with ponds and lakes surrounding them. The gorgeous scenery has a nice open feel.  A wonderful community center called The Ciderpress Club is the heart of this wonderful resort. Definitely first-class and fun.

Best RV resorts in Florida

4. Riverbend Motorcoach Resort, Labelle, FL

Riverbend Motorcoach Resort probably has more activities on-site than most any other RV resort.  If you can’t find something to do here, you’re just not trying. If eight, wonderful, lighted pickleball courts aren’t enough, try these unique amenities:

  • A model railroad village
  • Model boats
  • First-class remote controlled racetrack
  • Craft room

Of course, standard amenities exist too, such as 3 beautiful clubhouses, a restaurant, swimming pool, and several lovely guest cottages. You are also located right on the Caloosahatchee River, popular with hikers, bird watchers, and boaters.

5. Pelican Lake Motor Coach Resort, Naples, FL

A Tiki hut and stage for live entertainment makes this resort come alive along with a lush tropical feel throughout. A lovely clubhouse and state-of-the-art exercise center showcase this lovely, popular resort. It’s very close to the town center of Naples, which gives it extra appeal for shopping and dining. Tennis and pickleball are popular here.

Pelican Lake is flush with additional activities like dancing, movies, and Bingo. Nearby Rookery Bay, Tigertail Beach, and Everglades National Park ensure you will always be able to find something to do.

6. Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort, Lake Toxaway, NC

A true four-season mountain resort, Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort is lush with gorgeous natural foliage of azaleas, mountain laurel, and rhododendron that surround this beautiful location.

Long views of scenic mountains are all around. A private clubhouse with fitness facilities, pools, pickleball courts, and a lovely 9-hole executive golf course are all on-site.  Explore the charming small towns within an easy drive of the community.

A four-season RV resort means winter activities abound. Nearby Ski Sapphire Valley offers a variety of winter sport activities including skiing, snowboarding, show tubing, and winter zip line tours.

One of New Mexico’s best resorts

7. Ruidoso MotorCoach Ranch, Ruidoso, NM

Sites in this mountain resort feature private patios with gas fire pits.  This beautifully maintained and gorgeous resort sits on top of a knoll and affords wonderful views throughout.  The very attentive owners make your stay extremely pleasant.

The party pavilion has a very inviting atmosphere and is conducive for meeting, greeting, and socializing.  Just outside Ruidoso, this resort is near several golf courses. Stunning daytime views and breathtaking night skies make this the go-to destination in New Mexico.

Don’t forget the Gulf Coast or Las Vegas

8. Bella Terra of Gulf Shores, Foley, AL

One of the South’s outstanding RV resorts, Bella Terra is near the white sands of the Alabama Gulf Coast.  Seafood, fishing, beaches, marinas, and nine championship golf courses are all nearby. Oversize RV lots, some as large as 4500 sq.ft., make a great home base while you prepare to enjoy your choice of Jacuzzi, dry sauna, or zero-entry infinity-edge pool.

RVers can spend their time fishing in the fully stocked catch-and-release lake, hanging out in the Grand Clubhouse, or taking Fido for a run in one of the many ample dog parks.

9. Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort, Las Vegas, NV

Location, Location, Location. Gambling, world-class entertainment, fine dining options galore…it’s all around you at the Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort. Swimming pools throughout, pickleball, tennis, and a 10,000 sq. foot clubhouse highlight this community.

If palm trees are your thing, LVMR has over 1,000 of them on their 41-acre property, with over 400 large, beautifully landscaped coachsites. You’ll enjoy easy access to the Las Vegas Strip, and are just down the street from the Las Vegas Raiders new domed stadium.

Idaho, our home base

10. StoneRidge MotorCoach Village, Blanchard, ID

Finally, I would be remiss and disingenuous not to include our own property, StoneRidge MotorCoach Village. Having had multiple opportunities to purchase sites at any of these tremendous resorts and many others, we found StoneRidge to be the best overall choice for us.  We’ve been RVing for over 15 years and have visited dozens and dozens of beautiful RV Resorts.

A resort that truly has it all – spacious lots, 6 pickleball courts, two pools (one indoor, one outdoor), two exercise facilities, an 18-hole championship golf course with a pub & grill, owner’s lounge, garages for toy storage, walking trails, and a huge fenced dog park.  The manicured grounds are located within a 650-acre residential/resort community in a rural setting, surrounded by the mountains of North Idaho.  Many owners refer to the Motor Coach Village as “Summer Camp for Adults.”

Three gorgeous lakes are within an hour’s drive, i.e. Lake Coeur d’Alene, Lake Pend Orielle, and Priest Lake; and three cities are also easily accessible for shopping, dining, and sightseeing—beautiful Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint, ID, and Spokane, WA.

Conclusion

As we noted at the beginning, it’s impossible to list all of the best RV resorts this country has to offer, and new ones are popping up all the time, like the new Resort at Canopy Oaks that just opened in Lake Wales, Florida. But these are after all my favorites, yours may be different.

Our hope is that you use these as a template to go out and hit the road and make your own memories. If you like the best RV resorts, chances are you have a good sized RV to enjoy them in. Be sure and use the RV LIFE Pro tools to find great resorts and safe routes to get you there.

  1. 1. Bella Terra, albeit beautiful, has NO amenities other than a nice pool. IMHO, it’s not worth the prices they charge.
    2. Canopy Oaks is out in the middle of NOWHERE. Be prepared to drive for groceries, etc.
    3. Prices now are out of control.

    • Hello, we are interested in making this resort our winter home. Our best friends live in Pensacola. There are 10 lots for sale. We are wondering if you are an owner and if you might be able to provide any background information on the resort. Thank you, Mike

    • Hi Lewis
Thanks for the information about Hilton Head Island Resort. We like the Resort style sites but it is difficult to find places that don’t have Motorhome size restrictions. Do you know of any others that also allow Class C motorhomes?

      Thanks Mel

  3. Thanks for mentioning whether a resort has Pickleball or not. No matter how prefect everything is at a resort, if it doesn’t have at least 4 Pickleball courts we do not even consider staying there. We will look closer at the resorts that you have listed with our favorite sport.
