#1. Greenleaf State Park

Located at: 12022 Greenleaf Rd. Braggs, OK 74423

In the eastern hills of Oklahoma, Greenleaf State Park is a fantastic site for the whole family to visit. Besides the cabins, campground, and family recreational facilities, you have natural hiking trails and Greenleaf Lake, as well as a wonderful backdrop for whatever adventures your family plans on going on in the great outdoors.

The original buildings were all constructed in 1930 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and used native stone in their construction. Living in these homes brings you just about as close as you can get to living like those who built them.

The park has 16 cabins and 100 RV campsites, each with 50 amp electricity and full hookups. Additionally, there are 100 tent campsites, a pavilion, an enclosed shelter, outdoor shelters, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a swimming area, amphitheater, playground, and both volleyball and basketball courts.

Unfortunately, no jet skis or wave runners are allowed on the lake, but there is a kids’ pond in the area that allows children (16 and under) to fish at no charge and without a required permit. The park also offers holiday events and wildlife viewing activities.

The park rests near the entrance to McGee Creek Lake, which is known for its smallmouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, and flatheads. The Lake Thunderbird State Park Discovery Cove Nature Center and equestrian trails are located in the nearby Clear Bay area. These trails cover four miles and feature 12 obstacles. Negative Coggins papers are required, and no on-site stable are available so you will need to come prepared to take care of your own horses.

Hunting and catching waterfowl hunting are available in designated areas during the applicable seasons so prepare yourself for some good hunting during those seasons.

With the available 119 RV sites, you have the option of living in a rustic environment or having a full hookup provided for you. No matter what time of year you stop by there are things to do here.

In the winter (January through February) you have eagle watching that commences. Go and watch these majestic birds soar as you see just why they are seen as such powerful birds of prey.

If you enjoy rock climbing or rappelling, this RV camping site is perfect for you!

But that’s not all. The 400 acres of land that encompass the park has a load of attractions including rock climbing, hiking, and an amusement park. In addition to that, there are plenty of activities to partake in involving the wonderful backyard Oklahoma provides, including golfing, fishing, boating, bird watching, and cycling.

Rock climbers and rappellers will have a load of varying challenges with the routes they take as the climb the area of Baldy Point which is at the western end of the Wichita Mountain range and reaches a tall 300 feet above the land.

There are many way to travel while still on the ground though as the Quartz Mountain Nature Park has many biking and hiking trails that range from easy to strenuous as you climb around winding paths and over granite boulders.

Spanning over 59,000 acres of majesty, the animals roam free, with free-range buffalo, Texas Longhorn cattle, prairie dogs, elk, and deer encompassing the landscape. Get your cameras ready for the amazing view that you can get from this landscape!

You’ll have opportunities to mountain bike, rock climb, rappel, hike, camp, have picnics and fish. The available visitor center features wildlife exhibits and focuses on the habitats available in the Witchita Mountains.

Throughout the year, guests can schedule nature and wildlife tours that depart from the headquarters office on foot or by bus, or a combination of both travel methods.

Hiking the trails provide a fun challenge that includes bouldering at the Charon’s Garden Wilderness Area, which holds two miles of rugged and rocky landscape. The trails vary in difficulty though allowing you to challenge yourself or ease into the travel experience.

There are plenty of additional attractions such as the Holy City of the Wichitas, Quanah Parker Lake, and the Parallel forest. The Parallel forest is a wonder to behold as you have trees planted exactly 6 feet across stretching as far as the eye can see.

#11. Corral Drive-In Theater & RV Park

Designed for RVs, there are 27 pull-thru RV sites and 23 back-in sites, both types offering 30/50 amp service, along with sewer and water hookups.

You have plenty of privacy, as there are over 40 feet of space between sites. There are RV repair services available on-site.

Unfortunately, the drive-in and pizzeria will be closed as of 2019. Hopefully, this amenity will be up and running, but until we know, it is still a great stop for you to address any concerns that you may be facing, based on the needs of your RV.

The service makes it a great option to stay the night and get anything that you need checked on and taken care of.
