Fifth wheels are fantastic ways to travel, camp, and enjoy the freedom of the open road! However, sometimes it gets a little too cold for comfort once the winter months get closer.

Some people only like to use their fifth wheels when the weather is nice and stay home during the winter. But if you’re looking for a way to travel and adventure through the winter months, don’t worry! You’ve got a lot of options for winter-ready fifth wheels.

Below (in no particular order) are some of the best fifth wheels for winter users. In order to narrow the recommendations down a bit, I have chosen to feature one specific floor plan from each different brand.

Many of these fifth wheel brands offer a variety of unique amenities, floorplans, and equipment. 1. Arctic Wolf Suite 3550

As the name suggests, the Arctic Wolf product line is particularly well suited for surviving long, cold winters. The 3550 floor plan has a simple design and an easy flow to it. It features three slide-outs and has a master bedroom at the front end. Its interior is modern and classy, with dark wooden furniture and cream walls.

Winter Package

The Arctic Wolf brand offers a variety of different packages and equipment bundles. They have a standard suite package, an XL package, and a Sun-N-Snow package. The Sun-N-Snow is the best option for people who want to use their fifth wheels throughout the winter.

The benefits and added features included in this package are perfect for extreme heat and cold. The Sun-N-Snow bundle contains:

  • Enclosed vehicle underbelly (air heated)
  • 2 inch laminated walls to provide cold weather insulation
  • High circulation ceiling fan
  • Additional Quick cool fan
  • 35,000 BTU furnace
  • Second AC unit

Special Features

The Arctic Wolf 3550 Suite is a great standard fifth wheel. Aside from the cold weather comforts it offers, it also has a floor plan with lots of space, extensions for outdoor cooking, and a luxurious master bedroom setup.

The bedroom contains a king bed, a large closet, and three separate shelving units. There’s also a small closet containing a washer and drier prep area.

The main living space has a large section of empty space next to a beautiful kitchen island. There’s a four-person dining setup, creating a larger dining setup than many other plans.

This fifth wheel is a great option for anyone looking to live in comfort during the winter. It offers a lot of storage space through overhead cabinets, closets, and dressers. There’s also more than enough room for multiple people to enjoy it.

2. Cardinal Luxury 3700FLX

The Cardinal line of products are known for their level of comfort and their various luxury qualities. The 3700FLX, in particular, offers lots of space for owners and visitors alike. This floor plan is great for those who want to travel with larger groups, but also prefer to have their own private space.

It sports a light color scheme with imitation wood floors, metallic silver accents, and light walls, counter tops, and ceilings. This color palette makes the space seem larger and less confining.

Winter Package

Cardinal offers their extended season camping package to those who want to use this fifth wheel all throughout the year. To account for both hot and cold weather conditions, the Cardinal Luxury offers:

  • 12-volt heat pads with the underbelly being heated by ducts
  • 35,000 BTU furnace
  • 15,000 BTU A/C system
  • Equipment for a second A/C system
  • Ventilated attic system
  • Ceiling fan

Special Features

The Cardinal Luxury 3700FLX has a lot of space that it utilizes quite well. It’s designed to help large groups be comfortable sharing this space with each other. It offers three couches in the front end of the layout, along with a large entertainment center.

The midsection of the fifth wheel houses a large kitchen and dining area with an island and kitchen sink in the center. There is also a half bath bathroom in this section, which is available for everyone in the main living space.

The back of the layout contains the luxury master bedroom and a full bathroom. The bedroom holds a king sized bed, dressers, and a wardrobe.

The bathroom has double vanities, a shower, toilet, linen closet, and closet washing machine and drier. This area is perfect for people who want to get away from the main group and have private space.

3. Sandpiper 378FB

Sandpiper fifth wheels offer versatile and comfortable builds that can be used to suit a variety of people. They offer a lot of storage space, both interior and exterior, and can be used to haul a lot of equipment. The 378FB layout offers a spacious master bedroom suite and a well organized main living space.

Winter Package

Each standard Sandpiper fifth wheel comes equipped with a winter package. This is called their polar tech package. HT fifth wheels have this as an optional add-on, but most models come with it pre-installed. This bundle offers:

  • Thermal pane windows
  • Heated holding tanks
  • R-38e insulation for all roofing and flooring
  • 40,000 BTU furnace

Special Features

Sandpiper fifth wheels are great vehicles for lots of different circumstances. For instance, the 378FB offers not only a full interior kitchen, but attachments for outdoor cooking as well.

The living space within can comfortably accommodate 4 people with seating, sleeping, and dining space. One of the best parts, in my opinion, is the luxurious master bedroom suite.

This is separated from the main living space and contains the bedroom, a spacious bathroom with double vanities, and washer and drier, and a massive wardrobe along the front end of the fifth wheel.

This fifth wheel is a comfortable and spacious option for anyone looking to travel through the winter months.

4. Wildcat Maxx 245RGX LITE

  • Exterior Length: 29 feet, 4 inches
  • Hitch Weight: 764 lbs.

Wildcat Maxx fifth wheels are great because of their wide variety of sizes, layouts, and additional features. Each model is different so that each customer can find the best fit for them.

For this recommendation, I chose the 245RGX LITE travel trailer because it has a lot of great features and uses its limited space well. For those who are looking for a cozy winter home, this may be perfect for you!

Winter Package

The winter package for the Wildcat Maxx is called the Climatech Cold Weather All Seasons Insulation Package. This bundle includes a lot of great features including:

  • Reflective astro-foil insulation along the underbelly
  • R-7 fiberglass and 12-volt tanks underneath each holding tank to insulate and heat them
  • Astro-foil and fiberglass insulation along the ceiling and floors
  • All walls are bonded with foam block insulation
  • Outside storage compartments contain heat ducts to keep storage from freezing
  • Vented attic to let moisture escape in winter and heat escape in summer
  • 35,000 BTU furnace (30,000 BTU on LITE models)
  • Carpeted sections in some models to retain heat

Special Features

The Wildcat Maxx 245RGX LITE sports a compact floor plan that still supports all the luxuries and amenities of larger models. It has a kitchen and dining area along the side of a common living room. These all flow together in the same space and have a TV in the corner which is visible from any area.

The front of this fifth wheel houses the bedroom with a queen bed and two separate wardrobes. The bedroom is entirely carpeted, which is perfect for people who want to use this fifth wheel in cold winter conditions!

5. XLR Thunderbolt 369AMP

Each Thunderbolt fifth wheel comes with a mandatory winter package. The name of this one is the extended season package, and it has a variety of amenities for hot and cold weather. These include:

  • 12-volt heated tank pads
  • Radiant foil insulation technology along all walls, ceiling, and floors
  • Front cap and underbelly
  • MAXXAir power roof vent above the main bath to remove moisture
  • Window inserts
  • Fully enclosed underbelly with a Rotoflex heat duct

Special Features

One of the real standout features of Thunderbolt fifth wheels are their lofts. These raised sections can create enough additional room to fit an additional full-sized bed into the limited space.

In addition to the extra sleeping space, the 369AMP floor plan also offers stool seating around a kitchen counter. There’s a three-person sofa as well as washer and drier prep. All of these amenities make this layout great for hosting multiple people in comfort.

But there’s also a separate bedroom for people to get some privacy and personal space! The front of this floor plan contains the main bedroom with its king-sized bed, wardrobe, shelves, and linen closet.

Montana fifth wheels are spacious luxury vehicles that offer a lot of great amenities. They have high ceilings and open floor plans. The color scheme is also light, which creates an even more open feeling. There are brown/grey wood accents that complement the lighter colors and create a more natural look.

Winter Package

The Montana line of products offers a lot of customization options to its customers. However, even its most basic models have a ton of benefits and amenities. One of these basic packages is the four seasons feature package. This is one of the most thorough packages on the market and it has a huge range of cold weather products. These includes:

  • 48 inch LED fireplace
  • Straight line heat duct system in the floor
  • 15,000 BTU main A/C system
  • Two attic vents for cross ventilation
  • Insulated floor and sidewalls

Special Features

The Montana 3761FL is a great floor plan that can sleep multiple people in comfort. It has one main bedroom near the back of the fifth wheel, plus two fold out sofa beds. There are also two bathrooms, one in the back master bedroom and a half bath connected to the kitchen and living space.

Both the main living space and the master bedroom have TVs. When it comes to special benefits, the master bathroom contains a double vanity and the living room has a fireplace. Hot showers and fireplaces are great places to spend a cold day in the winter!

The Sierra family of products is built with a wide range of customers in mind. They come in all shapes, sizes and layouts. The Sierra 368FBS is a beautiful fifth wheel that hosts one of the best master bedroom setups on the market. It’s a luxurious layout for couples and small groups, with its classy dark wood accents against light colored walls.

The Sierra 368FBS is a great fifth wheel for any couples or small groups that want to live in it throughout the winter. You’d be hard pressed to find a more comfortable and accommodating model on the market!

Winter Package

Most Sierra products come with a cold weather package pre-installed. Their winter package is called the Polar Tech Package and it has everything you need to stay nice and warm through the winter. It includes:

  • Thermal pane windows
  • Heated holding tanks
  • Insulation along the entire floor and roof
  • 40,000 BTU furnace

Special Features

This layout has a large kitchen and dining area. It features an island in the center of the room, plus extra counter space next to the entertainment center. This, plus the included pantry space, overhead cabinets, and kitchen appliances make this a great setup for those who love to cook.

The main living space also contains two-person theater chairs across from an entertainment center. Along the back wall is a couch that doubles as a fold-down bed. There’s also a small bathroom off the main living area, making everything easily accessible.

The biggest selling point of this floor plan though, is the huge and luxurious master bedroom. It’s separate from the main living room and contains a queen-sized bed across from an additional TV. The entire floor is carpeted, which is useful to those who want to use it during the winter. The bed also has night stands on both sides.

Attached to the bedroom is a huge bathroom. It sports a double vanity sink, shower with a seat, and a toilet. There’s a lot of open space in this bathroom, making it quite different from the standard fifth wheel bathroom layout.

A door on the far wall of the bathroom leads to a huge closet and wardrobe space. There’s also a washer and drier setup in this area. It provides a huge amount of storage.

8. Heartland Landmark 365 Lafayette

Landmark fifth wheels are comfortable and user-friendly. Many of them offer multiple bathrooms and sleeping spaces, which make them great for travelers who want to host multiple people. The 365 Lafayette offers nicely separated spaces for the living room, kitchen, and main bedroom. It’s all accented with light colored leather furniture and dark wood.

The Landmark 365 Lafayette is a great setup for travelling groups who want to have space to be together, as well as space to be alone. There are three segments sections of this floor plan, creating effective areas for their individual purposes.

Winter Package

Landmark fifth wheels come with a variety of built in features that make them appealing for all seasons. Fireplaces and air conditioners come standard with most vehicles, and they also offer some additional options for the winter months. This brand also offers the Yeti Extreme Cold Weather Package. The winter amenities include:

  • Additional heat pump to main air conditioner
  • Heat pump to secondary air conditioner
  • Heated holding tank pads
  • Radiant insulation
  • Heated main water line to protect against freezing

Special Features

The front end of this fifth wheel contains the main living and relaxation space. There are two sofas, plus a two-person theater seat arranged around the walls. The front wall contains the main entertainment center.

There are a couple of steps to the side of this space that lead to the kitchen and dining area. There’s a refrigerator, stove, range, and island with a kitchen sink in this space, plus overhead cabinets for additional storage. A slide-out in this area contains the dining table and chairs, and there’s a half bath bathroom along the adjacent wall.

After another set of steps is the master bedroom. This space contains a king-sized bed, that can be electrically tilted and adjusted to the personal preference of its users! Next to the bed is a closet with washer and drier prep. Across from this is a dresser, an additional TV, and another closet.

Along the back of this floor plan is the master bathroom. This contains a shower, toilet, linen closet, vanity, and more overhead storage.

9. Bighorn 3370EL

Bighorn fifth wheels come in a variety of sizes. They offer everything from compact to extravagant! All their models provide a lot of storage space and a comfortable living setup though. The 3370EL uses its space beautifully to house people in a limited amount of space.

Winter Package

Bighorn models have a lot of options for owners to add special features and cold weather amenities. Many models come with standard heating and cooling abilities however, such as a 42,000 BTU furnace and 15,000 BTU air conditioner.

But owners also have options to add the Yeti Extreme Weather Package for additional winter amenities. Some of these cold weather features include:

  • Electric fireplace
  • Three-speed temperature control
  • Heat pump options

Special Features

The Bighorn 3370EL is a great layout for people who are looking for a more compact floor plan without sacrificing comfort and functionality. The door leads into the combined kitchen and living space. There’s a large island in the room, proving counter space for those who like to cook. Across from this is the refrigerator, range, additional counter space, and overhead cabinets.

A table and set of chairs is across from this space, along with a two-person couch. A three-person sofa sits along the back wall of this fifth wheel. A TV sits adjacent to this couch, making this a great place for socializing and relaxation.

The front half of this RV contains the main bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom hosts a shower, toilet, sink, linen closet, and small storage cabinet. The bedroom has a king sized bed, which faces a dresser. The front wall of the fifth wheel contains a spacious wardrobe and a closet washer and drier.

10. Jayco Eagle 327CKTS

Winter Package

Jayco products come with a lot of cold weather features installed. There isn’t an additional package that is necessary to winter-proof this fifth wheel, because it has a variety of amenities that are useful to keeping it toasty during the coldest storms! Some of these built-in features include:

  • LED fireplace
  • Climate Shield™ zero-degree-tested weather protection
  • Fully-enclosed and heated underbelly
  • High-BTU output furnace
  • Double-layer fiberglass insulation in all ceilings, walls, and floors
  • Closeable air conditioning vents

Special Features

An L-shaped counter sections off the kitchen space, which contains a sink, microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, and two pantries. The counter provides a lot of work space and it also includes the main kitchen sink.

Across from the kitchen is the dining space. There’s a table and four chairs, which is a larger setup than many other floor plans offer. Next to the table is a pair of recliners. To make this even more user-friendly for larger groups, the living space contains a large L-shaped sofa that can fold down into an additional bed.

The far back wall of this fifth wheel hosts a pop-up entertainment center and a fireplace. This completes the space and makes it particularly attractive to those who are using this fifth wheel in the winter months!

The front half of this floor plan hosts the main bathroom and private bedroom. The bathroom contains a toilet, shower, linen closet, and sink. There’s a bit more elbow room in this bathroom compared to most other layouts.

The main bedroom is carpeted and contains a queen-sized bed, which faces a chest of drawers and TV. The front end of the fifth wheel holds a large wardrobe, a set of shelves, and a washer and drier prep station.

11. 2019 North Point 383 FKWS

This is one of the newest models on the list and benefits from all the history and innovations of fifth wheel evolution. There are a variety of floor plans, some of which push the boundaries into the experimental realm. The North Point is on the cutting edge of the fifth wheel future, and beautifully balances comfort and function.

Winter Package

Like the previous fifth wheel on this list, the North Point doesn’t have a separate cold weather package. It’s built with measures in place to prevent freezing and keep heat inside. Some of the cold weather amenities it supports include:

  • Enclosed, insulated, heated underbelly
  • 40,000 BTU output furnace
  • Astro-Foil™ insulation along the roof and floors

Special Features

The 2019 North Point 383 FKWS has a unique floor plan that utilizes its space to create a fully connected and open layout. Every room (except the bathroom) is open to the others through hallways. This can be a good setup for families that want better visibility of each other.

The front of this fifth wheel contains a massive kitchen and dining area. The walls are lined with cabinets, kitchen appliances, and counter space. A padded L-shaped bench takes up a corner of the room, surrounding a table. With the huge amount of storage space, dining seating, and floor space, this is a great kitchen setup for families and large groups.

The middle of the fifth wheel holds the main living and relaxation space. There are two tri-fold sofas and a two-person theater seat which faces a fireplace and TV. This can provide extra sleeping space as well as seating.

Next to this area if the bathroom. It’s a simple setup, but easily fits a toilet, shower, sink, and additional cabinet space. On the other side of the bathroom is the main bedroom. It sports a queen-sized bed with nightstands on both sides. The bed faces a set of dressers, wardrobes, and an additional TV.
