I am interested in camping, but I don’t want a camper trailer that is big and takes up a lot of space or weighs a lot. I decided to research some travel trailers that weigh under 3,000 pounds.

This list includes 10 perfect camper trailers that weigh less than 3,000 pounds. They are listed in no particular order, and there are several more that may be good that aren’t on this list, but these are ones that seem particularly great.

1. Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro Travel Trailer

This travel trailer has several different floor plan options, and six of them are under 3,000 pounds unloaded, and three of those options have a total gross vehicle weight of fewer than 3,000 pounds.

The E12RK, E12SRK and E14FK versions will be the lightest choices. The other choices go to just over 3,000 pounds.

These can sleep two to four people, and have a length of 11 to 21 feet. They have an exterior height that ranges from 7 feet and 6 inches to 9 feet and 7 inches. The exterior width ranges from 76 inches to 88 inches.

This trailer comes with a lot of features, such as a WiFi ranger booster, a 20,000 BTU furnace, external speakers, a manual awning, vacuum laminated roofs and walls, a 12 Volt TV with a DVD player, a 100-watt roof-mounted solar panel with a 1000 watt inverter, a Coleman stove and grill combo, a microwave, and possibly even a heated mattress.

“The Flagstaff E-Pro 12RK can easily be pulled behind just about any vehicle. For the couple who loves to get up and go, then this model is the answer to your travel needs!”

-Campers Inn

These have the option of including a 13,500 BTU AC, a tongue mount bike rack, and even an off-road package.

These come with a freshwater tank with a capacity of up to 20 to 37 gallons, and a gray water tank with a capacity of 6 up to 30 gallons. Some have a black tank that can hold 12 to 30 gallons.

Another plus is that most of these cost less than 10,000 dollars. So you can get the space you need without a ton of weight, and also without breaking the bank.

This trailer is a great option for a small number of people who want the camping trailer experience but don’t want to haul a huge trailer behind them.

You can find out more by checking out the trailer’s features on the Forest River website here.

This model also has 6 floorplans with an unloaded weight that is under 3,000 pounds. The G12RK, G12SRK, and G14FK versions all will weigh under 3,000 pounds even after they’ve hit their carrying capacity, as well.

8. Aliner Ascape Travel Trailer

Aliner started out with a man and some materials, much like several other small trailer companies. Now, the company has built a name for itself and is established as a manufacturer of good quality, unique travel trailers.

The Aliner Ascape series is a lighter option with 8 floorplan options, all of them with an unloaded and even gross vehicle weight that comes in under 3,000 pounds. They all actually have a gross vehicle weight of 2,500 pounds.

The lightest unloaded is the Ascape MT at 1,170 pounds, and the Great Ascape Plus and ST are the heaviest unloaded, at 1,850 pounds. The carrying capacity varies from there to allow a total of 2,500 pounds for the trailer.

Each has a freshwater tank capacity of 11 gallons, and a gray water tank capacity of 13 gallons, except for the Ascape ST, which has a gray tank capacity of 26 gallons.

“The compact design paired with the plenty of amenities make this recreational vehicle a fantastic blend of comfort and convenience.”

I will write about one of the smaller floor plans, the Aliner Ascape Camp, but you can find out more about the other floor plans by checking out the website here.

10. Airstream Sport 16RB

Airstream is an established name, known for its uniquely designed, high-end trailers. While they may cost more than other trailers on the market, they will last a long time, and quality is pretty much guaranteed.

Hardly any Airstreams weigh less than 3,000 pounds. But, if you are an Airstream enthusiast, the Airstream Sport with the 16 RB floor plan weighs 2,860 pounds unloaded.

This does mean that with a carrying capacity of about 640 pounds, it does have a gross vehicle weight of 3,5000 pounds. However, it is still included because Airstream is a good brand, and I thought this still worth mentioning.

The Airstream Sport 16RB has an exterior length of 16 feet and 4 inches, an exterior width of 8 feet, and an exterior height of 9 feet 3 inches with the AC. Its interior width is 7 feet 7 inches, and the interior height is 6 feet and 4.5 inches. This is pretty roomy and means it has plenty of space for some great amenities.
